Get your ADHD coaching funded through Access to Work (UK Clients)
Our UK-based clients often ask us about funding options for ADHD coaching. Unlike employer-sponsored coaching through learning and development (L&D) budgets, the UK government’s Access to Work grant offers professionals in the UK a valuable alternative route to getting ADHD support.
What is Access to Work?
In the UK, an ADHD diagnosis provides legal protections under the Equality Act (2010), which is aimed at creating a level playing field for people with disabilities at work and school, and in society overall. One initiative under the Act is the publicly funded Access to Work program, which is delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions.
Access to Work is an employment support program that helps people with disabilities start or stay in work through practical support and funding. The scheme covers many different types of support, like readers for people with visual impairments, or specialist equipment for those with mobility issues. And people with ADHD can use it to receive coaching to develop effective work habits and routines.
Do you qualify?
Access to Work is available if you:
Have ADHD
Live in Great Britain
Are either employed, self-employed, or about to start work
There are no restrictions based on your earnings or the type of work you do.
What does Access to Work cover?
Access to Work typically funds 3 to 6 months of ADHD coaching.
Important considerations
If you take this route, it’s likely that you’ll need to disclose your ADHD to your employer - this might not be for everyone
Claims are processed in arrears, meaning you or your company will need to pay for coaching upfront before receiving reimbursement
The application process can take up to 6 months
